Chicago Fire Football Club has appointed former Bayern München player Xherdan Shaqiri as the club’s new captain, taking over from Rafa Czichos for the remaining matches in the MLS.
The Swiss DP assumed the captaincy in the team’s opener against Philadelphia Union, a game the two sides failed to pick the 3 maximum points.
Former Club Captain Rafa Czichos confirmed the news, expressing that it felt like the right time to pass on the armband.
“I felt like it was the right time to pass on the armband.”
Shaqiri is anticipated to bring his experience to the fore as the team strives to qualify for the 2024 MLS playoffs this season.
