Gregg Berhalter Returns to MLS as Chicago Fire’s Sporting Director and Head Coach

Former USMNT Manager Gregg Berhalter expressed his excitement and honor at being named the director of football and head coach, by Chicago Fire Football.

A native of Chicago, Berhalter will oversee all operations for Chicago Sporting, including the First Team, MLS Pro, and the Academy.

The 51-year-old former LA Galaxy player will officially take on his new role following the conclusion of the 2024 MLS regular season.

After nearly six years leading the US men’s national team, Berhalter returns to MLS with a vision for the club.

“Chicago is an incredible city, built on communities of hard-working and passionate people who truly love soccer. I look forward to collaborating with our staff and players to transform the Fire into a world-class organization that our fans and the city can take pride in and support,” he stated
