Chicago Fire Designated Player Xherdan Shaqiri expressed delight at the recent acquisition of Hugo Cuypers and Kellyn Acosta to the team’s roster this season.
The front office secured the services of USMNT star Kellyn Acosta through free agency, and prolific Belgian striker Hugo Cuypers for the upcoming 2024 season.
With these notable additions, former Liverpool and current DP, Shaqiri is optimistic the newest additions will contribute significantly to the team’s success.
Speaking about Acosta’s experience and Hugo’s exploits in Europe, Shaqiri believes the duo will play a pivotal role this season for the team.
“These are a wonderful addition to the team, and we are very happy we have them here, Acosta has played at the highest level, and Hugo was in Europe and played in a competitive league, we believe they can help us a lot this season”.
Chicago Fire will kick off their MLS Campaign this season on the road in Philadelphia against Union at the Subaru Stadium on Saturday.
