Chicago Fire Sporting Director Georg Heitz has praised the strategic move to bolster the team’s defense with the acquisition of former Houston Dynamo defender Chase Gasper.

The addition of Gasper is seen as a crucial move in addressing defensive vulnerabilities, especially considering the team’s concession of 51 goals last season in the MLS.

In exchange, the Dynamo will receive Chicago Fire’s third-round pick of the 2026 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Georg Heitz, the sporting director of Chicago Fire, welcomed the arrival of the 28-year-old Gasper with enthusiasm to Chicago.

“We’re pleased to welcome Chase to the Club as we continue to prepare for the upcoming season, Chase is a talented player who will provide depth and competition to our backline.”

The former Houston Dynamo defender Gasper is contracted to Chicago Fire until the conclusion of the 2025 season.
