Chicago Fire Recorder signing, Hugo Cuypers, is eager to make an impact in MLS.

Chicago Fire’s newest acquisition, Hugo Cuypers is poised to hit the ground running as the 2024 Major League Soccer season approaches.

The former Belgian striker Cuypers who scored 51 goals in 90 appearances for Genk in the Belgium League in 2022, is expected to bring more added firepower to Coach Frank Klopas squad.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, the 26-year-old stated

“I am excited to join the club and to help the club achieve its goals, I have heard many good things about the city and the club, and I can’t wait to connect with the fans.”

Fire paid a reported $12 million for the Belgian striker surprising the fee the club paid for former Liverpool striker Xherdan Shaqiri in 2022.

Currently in preseason for an invitational tournament in California, the easter conference MLS Side is gearing up for their opener against Philadelphia Union on match day 1 of the MLS.
