Chicago Fire captain Xherdan Shaqiri has rejoined team practice for the first time since representing Switzerland in the European Championships.

Shaqiri was spotted at the Chicago Fire training facility in Bridgeview on Wednesday morning, preparing for the team’s League Cup match against Mexican side Toluca FC on Thursday, August 1st, at SeatGeek Stadium.

The Fire’s designated player has attracted interest from several European clubs, with Greek team Panathinaikos recently entering the competition for his signature.

Shaqiri is under an $8 million annual contract and will likely part ways with Chicago Fire at the end of the 2024 season.
