LA Galaxy Football Club has officially reported their bitter rivals Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) to Major League Soccer, following an incident of racial abuse directed at their player Joseph Paintsil over the weekend.
The 26-year-old was subjected to racist remarks on social media after the EL Trafico match which ended in a 1-2 to LAFC.
In a released statement LA Galaxy, expressed solidarity with their Ghanaian International Joseph Paintsil.
“The club stands with Joseph and anyone who has faced racial abuse through social platforms or anywhere else,” the Galaxy wrote, in part, in a statement. “We are also working with MLS to ensure Joseph has all the resources and support he needs at this time. There is no place for racism in our community, in our league, or anywhere else in society
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against racism, LA Galaxy affirmed their unravel commitment in combatting discrimination within their pro sports and beyond.
Paintsil has previously encountered similar incidents during his tenure in Europe while playing for K.R.C. Genk.
