Chicago Fire’s sensational winger, Maren Haile Selassie, has expressed deep affection for the club’s fans and the city after an amazing debut season in the windy City.

The 24-year-old who joined Fire from Swiss side FC Lugano in 2022, gained popularity among the club’s fans with incredible performances.

Maren played 34 games, 6 goals, and 3 assists for Chicago Fire in the 2023 Major League Soccer.

Following stellar MLS performances, Fire secured Maren’s services by exercising his contract options.

As the Golden Boot winner for the 2023 season, he is confident in his ability to contribute significantly to his team.

“I have much respect for my teammates, coaches, the front office, and the city, this City is beautiful. I love it here, and I want to give this team everything. The goal for me personally is to even do better than I did last season”.

Becoming a cult hero in Chicago, Maren is expected to play a key role for his team despite making cameo appearances in preseason.
