Chicago Fire Designated Player, Jairo Torres is set to be traded according to head coach, Frank Klopas.
Torres anticipated move to the Mexican League hit a snag due to stalled negotiations between Fire’s front office and an unnamed club in Liga MX.
The former Atlas player, acquired by Chicago Fire for a substantial $6 million struggled to meet expectations grappling with persistent injuries and health problems.
Acknowledging Torres’s struggles, Frank Klopas, revealed that the front office is actively looking to part company with the 23-year-old DP.
“There are going to be additions and departures of course, and we all know what is going on with Torres, the front office is doing everything possible to allow some players to leave.
“Torres won’t be joining us for the invitational tournament in California, he is not part of the team now. The front office is trying and working hard to get him new opportunities elsewhere.”
Fire will leave Chicago on Monday ahead of the Coachella Invitational tournament in California.
